EA Serbia Code of Conduct

Summary

Effective Altruism Serbia is a network of individuals committed to collective action for a better world. Our diverse membership shares a common goal: maximizing our positive impact. This code of conduct ensures productive and respectful collaboration. It applies to all EA Serbia-managed spaces, including online platforms, in-person events, and other communication channels. Violations outside these spaces may also affect participation.

Core Principles

  • Empathy: Understand and share the feelings of others.

  • Friendliness and Patience: Foster a supportive environment.

  • Welcoming Attitude: Embrace newcomers and diverse perspectives.

  • Consideration: Respect the experiences and viewpoints of others.

  • Respect: Maintain a courteous and polite demeanor.

Disagreement is inevitable, but it must not excuse poor behavior. Frustrations should never escalate to personal attacks.

Conduct Guidelines

  • Use considerate language.

  • Treat others with kindness.

  • Avoid insults and derogatory remarks.

Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:

  • Violent threats or language

  • Discriminatory jokes and language

  • Posting sexually explicit or violent content

  • Personal insults

  • Unwelcome sexual attention

  • Repeated harassment

If someone asks you to stop, comply immediately. Encourage and advocate for positive behaviors.

Disagreements

Resolve conflicts constructively. Seek to understand differing viewpoints. If someone finds your behavior offensive, listen and adjust. Compliance with these expectations is mandatory.

Harassment Policy

EA Serbia is committed to providing a harassment-free environment for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. Harassment in any form is not tolerated. This includes:

  • Offensive verbal comments

  • Sexual imagery or language

  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following

  • Harassing photography or recording

  • Disruption of events

  • Inappropriate physical contact

  • Unwelcome sexual attention

Participants asked to stop harassing behavior must comply immediately. Violations may result in sanctions or expulsion at the discretion of event organizers. If you witness or experience harassment, report it immediately using the provided procedures.

Support and Safety

Event staff are available to assist with contacting venue security, local law enforcement, or providing escorts to ensure safety.

Event Participation

Participants must adhere to this code at all EA Serbia events and related activities.

Photographs and Video

By attending EA Serbia events, participants consent to being photographed and filmed. EA Serbia may use these images for media and promotional purposes.

Reporting Procedures

If you feel uncomfortable or suspect a code of conduct violation, please report it. Anonymity is respected. Reports can be made via email or through an anonymous form.
