Effective Altruism (EA) Serbia hosted its first-ever introductory in-person course in Belgrade from February 19th to March 26th, 2022. The aim of the course was to share the core ideas of the effective altruism movement and explore where we can make the most impact most efficiently.
The course was held every Sunday and saw eight enthusiastic participants come together to learn about effective altruism. Each session was structured to include workshops and discussions, providing participants a space to learn, ask questions and share their views.
One of the key highlights of the course was a presentation in pairs where we worked together to develop a project idea that addressed pressing global issues, such as AI safety, pandemic prevention, nuclear security, and run-away climate change.
Throughout the course, we explored the importance of using evidence and reason to identify the most pressing issues facing our world today. We also learned about how it is possible to contribute and solve these issues through volunteering, donating, and advocating for change.
The course was facilitated by Dušan Nešić, who provided a strong foundation for participants to continue their journey in effective altruism and make a positive impact in the world.
Overall, the introductory in-person course was a great success for EA Serbia, and we look forward to hosting more events that promote the principles of effective altruism and encourage individuals to use their resources to make the world a better place.
